The usually elegant Kate Middleton suffered a slip up yesterday as she stumbled getting into her car in a relatable moment at a royal engagement.

The Duchess, 37, was joined by the Duke of Cambridge, 37, as they attended a charity event in London for their volunteer text support service Shout.

But as the royals left the Troubadour White City Theatre, Kate, who was wearing black block heels, appeared to trip on her way into the car.

Prince William could be seen reaching out a hand to support her, but there was no need because they Duchess quickly recovered, and the two shared a grin over the minor slip-up as they ducked into their car to leave the event.

Embrace berry tones like Kate in trousers by Joseph

The Duchess of Cambridge kept things chic as she attended an event today, stepping out in a classic Kate combo.

The royal recycled her favourite checked Smythe blazer, which she paired with a pair of maroon Joseph pants, before finishing off with her go-to pumps by Gianvito Rossi.

Kate swapped her signature demure dresses for smart separates as she joined husband Prince William on the visit yesterday.

The Duke and Duchess were on hand to celebrate the volunteers of crisis text support service Shout, which was launched by the couple and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in May.

Kate donned a smart £620 blazer, by favourite label Smythe, and £345 Joseph trousers, which are thought to be a new addition to her wardrobe.

The royal completed her outfit with a simple pair of black block Gianvito Rossi heels costing £520.

Kate wore her bouncy brunette locks styled in her signature curls and styled in a deep side parting.

The Duchess chose a slightly more dramatic make-up look than usual, opting for dark eyeshadow, defined brows and contouring on her cheekbones.

She appeared elegant and demure throughout the engagement, before suffering the slight stumble on her way back to the royal car.

Having said goodbye to the organisers of the event, she made her way down the stairs of the Troubadour White City Theatre.

But as she approached the royal car, the Duchess appeared to trip on the uneven ground, before Prince William put out an arm to support her.

The royals shared a smile over the clumsy blunder, and could be seen laughing as they entered their car and departed the engagement.

The event brought together people from across the UK who volunteer around the clock with Shout to support people in crisis.

Six months ago, to mark the charity's official opening, William and Kate, alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, appealed to the public to give their time to the charity.

In the months since, 1,500 volunteers have had 145,000 text conversations with people in crisis, exchanging a total of six million messages.

Three-quarters of people who have contacted Shout have been under 25 and the most common issues raised are suicide, depression, relationships, anxiety, isolation and self-harm.

As volunteers access their shifts from computers in their own homes, this event is an opportunity for this virtual community to meet and see the scale of the national network they have joined.

The Duke and Duchess joined Shout volunteers in the theatre to watch a special performance before joining a group photo with volunteers to encourage everyone to spread the word about Shout.
