It seems Jo De La Rosa and Slade Smiley‘s engagement wasn’t built to last.
Appearing on Sirius XM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” on Wednesday, the former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star, 39, claimed that the canary diamond ring Smiley, 46, had given her was a fake.
“It was a placeholder. The center stone was supposed to be changed into the future, but we never got there, obviously,” De La Rosa said.
Smiley and De La Rosa’s breakup was documented on Season 2 of the Bravo series, which aired in 2007. While De La Rosa can’t recall the size of the stone, the former Bravolebrity appreciated the thought behind the piece.
“I didn’t try and sell it,” De La Rosa said, adding, “It was the thought that counted for me.”
Smiley is currently engaged to fellow “Orange County” alum Gretchen Rossi. The pair welcomed their first child, daughter Skylar Gray, in July.
When reached for comment, Smiley told us, “Quite honestly I don’t know much about that ring because the truth is she was so desperate to be engaged for the show that she picked up the ring herself. Being that was 14 years ago this seems to be a thirsty attempt to thrust herself back into the limelight and its probably because we have heard she has been calling around trying to get back on ‘Housewives.’ However, since she is obviously trying to discredit me, we would be happy to connect you with our jewelers, Happy Jewelers, who we have worked with for the past 11 years, and they would be happy to authenticate all the pieces we own.”
