The Prince of Wales will celebrate his 71st birthday in India as he aims to shine a light on the topics of climate change, the celebration of British-Indian connections and sustainable markets. The Duchess of Cornwall is suffering from a chest infection, which prompted her doctor to order her to cancel her engagements last week.
However, she was never scheduled to go to India because of it being a short trip and her fear of flying.
Her ill health was the reason why she was not able to visit the Field of Remembrance for Remembrance Day with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Thursday.
Clarence House tweeted: “The Prince of Wales will visit India from 13th-14th November as part of The Royal Highnesses’ Autumn tour, to celebrate British-Indian connections.
“HRH will carry out engagements in New Delhi with a focus on sustainable markets, climate and change and social finance”.
Announcing Camilla’s absence from Westminster Abbey, a Clarence House spokeswoman told Express.co.uk: “The Duchess of Cornwall has been told by her doctor to cancel her engagements owing to a chest infection which has got progressively worse over the last few days.”
The Duchess of Cornwall was also forced to miss a gala dinner at the London Library to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Prince Albert due to her poor health.

After the India trip, Charles is due to travel to New Zealand where he will join Camilla for a week-long tour of the country.
Clarence House shared details of the tour earlier this month, saying: “Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will undertake an official visit to New Zealand between Sunday 17th and Saturday 23rd November at the invitation of the New Zealand Government.
“This will be Their Royal Highnesses third official joint tour to New Zealand.”
Camilla’s fear was confirmed also by a Clarence House spokesman ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2018, who said the Duchess really “doesn’t like flying”.
He continued: “The Duchess does not like flying but I think she has to sometimes embrace that fear.”
Her fear prevents her from following Prince Charles on every single trip he does abroad, especially if they are brief trips.
