The Crown in dig at Meghan and Harry? Queen scene shows ‘protocol keeps us alive’ - Express

will return to Netflix for season three this Sunday. The hotly anticipated new season chronicles s reign from 1964 to 1976. Here’s how one of the Queen’s monologues in a preview clip for the show could be interpreted as a dig at modern royals.

The Queen has lived through huge changes during her 66 years on the throne but despite societal shifts she has remained true to royal protocol. While The Crown takes artistic licence with royal storylines it is based on real events and season three will focus on the Queen’s unwavering dedication to the Crown.

A Netflix featurette released ahead of season three’s debut contains previously unseen clips from the show.

In a voiceover to the clip the Queen, played by actress Olivia Coleman, is captured uttering several lines that succinctly sum up royal tradition and its purpose.

She says: “There are a great many changes, but there we are."
