Season 12 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is shaping up to be one of the series most dramatic, filled with marital problems, breakups, and fractured friendships. Cast members have already revealed scandals, fights, and a “snake” will shake things up.
The premiere arrives on Sunday, Nov. 3, and the first episode will see the return of Kenya Moore with her baby girl in tow. In the weeks leading up to this, Moore announced that she and her husband, Marc Daly, would be separating. But not all hope is lost.
Cynthia Bailey is hopeful for Moore and Daly
Rolling into this new season, some cast members have been speaking about what’s going on behind the scenes. Bailey recently touched on what’s been happening with her friend, Kenya, and she sympathizes with her situation. She doesn’t want to see Moore get divorced and told Bravo that she hopes the new parents can work things out.
“This is her first marriage. I think she went into it for all the right reasons. She is still very much in love with her husband, and who knows? Maybe they can still work it out in the end. I think they both deserve to be happy whether they’re together or not, and I’m not the kind of mom or parent that thinks that you have to be with the father of your child to be able to be good parents to your children. I personally don’t think that because you have a kid with somebody is the only reason to stay with that person.”
On how Moore is doing, Bailey told Hollywood Life she’s ok and focused on her daughter, Brooklyn:
“She’s holding up as well as can be expected. She wants her marriage to work. I think she’s been open to trying to make it work if Marc was open to that, absolutely.
Kenya’s not going to compromise her happiness. She’s not going to do that. She’s in a great place. Brooklyn is her number one priority, and with that said, she just wants to be happy and wants to make sure she’s in a good enough space to take care of her daughter. I think Kenya and Mark both want that, so if they can’t figure it out together, then I am a fan of co-parenting separately.”
Moore spoke on a possible reconciliation
It’s true that some of her friends are rooting for her to get back with her estranged hubby, but Moore herself talked about that possibility in a recent interview with People. She said the pair haven’t filed for divorce yet but she’s not sure if things are fixable.
“I am hopeful, and have always wanted to work on our relationship. But I just don’t know if that’s even a possibility at this point, honestly. Marc doesn’t seem to be there. I’d feel more comfortable calling it quits if I knew I’d tried everything and it still didn’t work. And we definitely didn’t do everything we could have done to save our relationship.”
She talked about how she wasn’t a fan of quitting her marriage and never intended for things to happen the way they did. But she also expressed she didn’t want fans to get the wrong idea and said many rumors about their split are simply untrue.
Some don’t think the two will get back together
Bailey is optimistic, Moore is willing but unsure, but many fans think this union will be over for good. The marital relationship between the reality star and restaurateur has been plagued with rumors of infidelity and a side family, though Moore says all of those whispers are lies.
But one thing she admits is that she wishes she took the opportunity to go to counseling to work on their communication issues. “I’m not saying that opportunity may not exist in the future. But I just don’t have a complete sense of if that’s something that he’s still willing to do.” Maybe things will change by the time season 12 ends.
