Street vending is real, and legal
L.A. Taco has all the key information on the city’s new street vending permits, and was even there for the release of the first-ever permit. Per the Taco, there are now 24 city employees with the Bureau of Street Services who are tasked with permitting and enforcement, and the city will begin issuing permits in earnest (and handing out warnings to those not in compliance, at first) this year. Congrats to all of the hard working folks who managed to make LA’s long dream of vendor legislation a reality.
A new reality

Two becomes one
Goldburger is collab’ing with Go Get Em Tiger next Friday for a one-day burger dinner in Silver Lake. Meanwhile, the Go Get Em Tiger burger will become available at the Highland Park and Los Feliz locations (in addition to the Downtown outlet at the Row) starting on Monday through the GGET app.

Taste Cooking got Ruth Reichl to open up her extended menu collection, including lots of throwback Los Angeles restaurants like Citrus.
Not so Texas, yet
Texas Monthly came back to Los Angeles to check in on the food scene (mostly its barbecue), and found a lot to be desired, even at places like Slab. The best of the bunch was Maple Block Meat Co., at least on this trip.
A Long Beach looker
The Hideaway is now all the way open in Long Beach. The casual chop house at 4137 Anaheim St. comes from chef Art Gonzalez of Panxa Cocina and owners Geoff and Karna Rau. Expect lots of meat, cocktails, seafood, and the like.
